Many of you have asked us what the mask policy for Mississippi Comic Con would be this year. We’ve waited until now to address things because we wanted to finalize our meetings with the venue and make sure our information was accurate.
On April 30th Governor Reeves lifted the state’s COVID restrictions, but the city of Jackson, under Mayor Lumumba’s order, still has a mask mandate in effect. As of this writing, we aren’t sure when that will end. However, after consulting with the Mississippi Fairgrounds and its management, we have been informed that the Trade Mart and Coliseum fall under the rules of the state of Mississippi.
What this means is that we will still recommend that people continue to follow the CDC and MSDH guidelines on safety, including wearing a mask in all public spaces, social distancing, and hand-washing…but there are no restrictions in place.
Guest Billy Dee Williams will require a mask to be worn in his line, while meeting him, and during his photo ops, but there are no other guest requests regarding masks at this time. We hope this information helps those of you who had questions.
As we said, we wanted to make sure we had a definitive answer in place before saying anything. We appreciate your patience and continued support.
